Rhino SVG is an animal of mammalian class, animal subclass, placental infraclass, lavrazioteric, ungulates, rhinoceros families.

The Latin name of the animal has Greek roots, the word Rhino is translated as “nose”, and ceros means “horn”. And this is a very precise name, because all five surviving rhinoceros species have at least one horn growing from the nasal bone of a mammal.

Rhino SVG: description. How does the animal look like?

Rhino SVG is the largest terrestrial animal after an elephant. Modern rhinoceroses reach a length of 2-5 meters, a height in the shoulders of 1-3 m and weigh from 1 to 3.6 tons. The color of their skin, as it seems at first glance, is reflected in the names of species: white, black and everything is clear here. But not here. In fact, the natural color of white and black rhinoceros skin is approximately the same – it is gray-brown. And they are so named because they like to lie in soils of different colors, which paint the surface of the body of rhinos in different shades.

Rhinoceroses have a long, narrow head with a steeply falling forehead. Between the forehead and the nasal bones there is a concave that resembles a saddle. Animals’ eyes are disproportionately small, with oval brown or black pupils, and short fluffy eyelashes grow in the upper eyelids.

Rhino SVG have a good sense of smell: animals rely on it more than other senses. The volume of their nasal cavity exceeds the volume of the brain. Rhinoceroses also have good hearing: their ears, which look like tubes, rotate constantly, catching even weak sounds. But giants have bad eyesight. Rhinoceroses see only moving objects from a distance of no more than 30 meters. The location of the eyes on the sides of the head prevents them from seeing objects well: they first see the object with one eye, and then with another.

The upper lip of the Indian and black rhinoceroses is very mobile. It hangs down a little and closes the lower lip. Other species have straight, clumsy lips.

The jaws of these animals constantly lack any teeth. Asian varieties have incisors in the dental system throughout their lives, and African rhinoceroses do not have incisors in both jaws. Tusks are absent in Rhino SVG, but in each jaw grows 7 primary teeth, which with age are strongly erased. The lower jaw of Indian and black rhinoceroses is also decorated with pointed and elongated incisors.

The main distinguishing feature of rhinos is the presence of horns growing from the nasal or frontal bone. More often than not, it is one or two unpaired growths that are dark grey or black. Rhinoceros horns do not consist of bone tissue like bulls, rams or antelopes, but of keratin protein. This substance consists of the needles of a porcupine, human hair and nails, birds’ feathers, armor of a battleship. Rhinoceroses grow closer to the horny part of their hooves. They develop from the skin epidermis. In young animals the horn recovers when wounded, in adult mammals it does not grow back again. The functions of horns have not been sufficiently studied yet, but scientists have found that females with removed horns are no longer interested in their offspring. It is believed that their main purpose is to move trees and grasses in thickets. This version is supported by changes in the appearance of horns in adults. They become ground, and their front surface is slightly flattened.

Javanese and Indian rhinos have 1 horn growing from 20 to 60 cm long. White and Sumatran each have 2 horns, and black has 2 to 5 horns.

The longest horn in white rhinoceros grows up to 158 cm long.

Rhino SVG are heavy thick-skinned mammals with three-fingered short massive limbs. At the end of each finger, they have a small, wide hoof.

The animal’s footprints are easy to recognize: they look like a clover leaf, as the rhinoceros rests on the soil surface with all its toes.
