Radish SVG – annual or biennial plant, refers to the flower department, dicotyledon class, the order of cabbage, the family of cabbage (cruciferous, bracesque), the genus radish and is a kind of radish sowing.
International scientific name: Raphanus sativus var. radicula (Persoon, 1806).
The Russian name for radisa is most likely a transformed Latin word for “radix”, which means “root” in translation.
Radish SVG – description
Leaves of Radish SVG are simple, petiolate, can be whole or lyre-shaped dissected, pubescent of hard hairs and collected in a socket. Leaf length from 5 to 20-25 cm. Color of leaves – from light salad to saturated green. Root system of a radish of rod type.
After the formation and maturation of root crops, in the first year of vegetation, in the center of the leafy rosette at the radish begins to form a stem. For its development, as well as for the formation of flowers and fruits, the stem consumes nutrients accumulated in a juicy root. The stem of the radish is branched, rounded on the cross section, with a rather loose core in the central part. Often the core is completely destroyed and the stem inside is hollow. The height of the radish stem can reach 20 cm – 1 meter.
Radish SVG flowers are collected in inflorescences in the form of a brush and can have a white, pink or purple hue. The diameter of the flowers reaches 1.5 cm. After flowering, which lasts 30-35 days, fruit-strings are formed with a length of 2.5 to 7.5 cm, each of which contains from 6 to 10-12 round seeds of light brown color.
Radish SVG root can be 1.5-2 to 7-10 cm in diameter and can be tasty due to mustard oil or juicy and almost bitter. The flesh of radish is white and white, white and pink or pink. The root vegetable has a rounded, oval-cylindrical or elongated cone-shaped shape, as in carrots. Radish root can be red, pink, yellow, white, purple or green. There are also varieties whose roots have a white tip on the background of the general pink and red coloring. The average weight of the radish root (depending on the variety) is from 5 to 35 g, although there are giant specimens weighing up to 100 g, for example, in the variety Red Giant.
Radish SVG is the champion in early maturation among root crops: some varieties are fully ripe in just 16-20 days after sowing the seeds. This feature makes it possible to plant radish and get its harvest several times in a season (3-4 times). The greatest practical value of radish has the first year of vegetation, after the maturation of the root vegetables used in food. If during this period radish is not pulled out of the ground, it continues to grow, gives a floriferous escape, then from the flowers there are fruits with seeds. Annual varieties in the first year give both roots and seeds, but the two-year in the first season of vegetation is formed only by root, the seeds are ripe for the next year. Thus, from planting to maturation of seeds can take from 100 to 180 days.
Where does radish grow?
It is believed that the wild radish originates from Southeast Asia, and the homeland of the radish is the Mediterranean, where it has been grown for over 4000 years. Radish came to Russia in the XVIII century. Today it is grown all over the world.
