Penguin SVG is a non-flying bird, which belongs to a group of penguin-like, family of penguins (lat. Spheniscidae).
The origin of the word “penguin” has 3 versions. The first suggests a combination of Welsh words pen (head) and gwyn (white), which originally belonged to the extinct today wingless loon. Due to the similarity of the penguin with this bird, the definition was transferred to it. According to the second version of the name of the penguin gave the English word pinwing, translated as “wing stud”. The third version is the Latin adjective pinguis, meaning “thick”.
Penguin SVG – description, structure.
All penguins know how to swim and dive perfectly, but can not fly at all. On land, the bird looks rather clumsy because of the peculiarities of the body structure and limbs. The penguin has a streamlined shape of the body with a strongly developed musculature of the thoracic keel, which is often a quarter of the total mass. The body of the penguin is quite nourished, slightly squeezed from the sides and covered with feathers. Not too big head is on a moving, flexible and quite short neck. The penguin beak is strong and very sharp.
The wings of the Penguin SVG have evolved and evolved into elastic fins: when swimming underwater, they rotate in the shoulder joint on a screw principle. The legs are short and thick, with 4 toes each connected by swimming eavesdrops. Unlike other birds, the penguin’s legs are essentially backward, which forces the bird to hold the body strictly vertically while on land.
To keep the penguin in balance, a short tail consisting of 16-20 hard feathers helps: if necessary, the bird simply leans on it like on a stand.
The penguin skeleton is not made up of hollow tubular bones, which is common for other birds: the bones of the penguin are more like those of marine mammals. For optimal thermal insulation, the penguin has an impressive amount of fat in a layer of 2-3 centimeters.
The plumage of the penguins is dense and dense: some small and short feathers cover the bird’s body like tiles, protecting it from getting wet in cold water. The color of feathers in all species is almost identical – dark (usually black) back and white belly.
Once a year, the Penguin SVG moulting: new feathers grow at different rates, pushing out the old feather, so often the bird during the moulting period is untidy scrawny. During moulting, penguins are only on land, trying to hide from wind gusts and eating absolutely nothing.
The size of penguins varies depending on the species: for example, the Emperor’s penguin reaches 117-130 cm in length and weighs from 35 to 40 kg, and the small penguin has a body length of only 30-40 cm, while the weight of the penguin is 1 kg.
In search of food penguins are able to spend a lot of time underwater, plunging into its thickness by 3 meters and overcoming distances of 25-27 km. The speed of the penguin in the water can reach 7-10 km per hour. Some species dive to a depth of 120-130 meters. At a time when penguins are not concerned about marriage games and care of offspring, they are quite far away from the coast, sailing to the sea at a distance of 1000 km.
On land, if it is necessary to move the Penguin SVG quickly, the penguin lies on the belly and, starting with the limbs, quickly slides on the ice or snow. With this method of movement penguins develop a speed of 3 to 6 km / h.
Life expectancy of penguins in nature – 15-25 years and more. In captivity, when the bird is ideally kept, this figure sometimes increases to 30 years.
