Long Beach SVG is a major coastal city in Southern California, right on the southeast border of Los Angeles. Long Beach is known as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the United States. It is home to Hispanics, African-Americans, Americans and Asians, and in general Long Beach is much more like an East Coast or Midwest city than any other in California. There’s also a world-class aquarium and a floating museum/Queen Mary Hotel.
Long Beach SVG Entertainment and Sightseeing
The Pacific Aquarium is one of the largest in the country. There are about 1000 inhabitants living here in 19 main aquariums and 32 specific expositions. Visitors can admire the flora and fauna of three areas of the Pacific Ocean: Southern California (Bahia), tropical and northern.
“Queen Mary is a historic ocean liner that served as a military vehicle during World War II. Today the ship is declared a national monument. Various tours have been developed for the study of the ship, including the tour “Ghosts and Legends”. On board there is a hotel, several restaurants and a shopping promenade. You can buy combined tickets to visit the liner and aquarium or the liner and submarine B-427.
The B-427 Foxtrot class submarine moored next door to Queen Mary is a Soviet-era combat submarine from the Cold War. A retired Russian submarine officer works here as a tour guide.
Earl Burns Miller’s Japanese garden is located on the campus of Long Beach University of California. It is a classically designed 1.3-acre garden with a traditional tea house and koi pond. You can walk around the garden on your own for a small entrance fee.
The Long Beach Art Museum is located on East Ocean Boulevard and is housed in the old Elizabeth Milbank Anderson mansion. It is a small museum with a collection of 20th century works of authors and objects of decorative and applied arts. The main place in the expositions is occupied by Californian artists. And the Museum of Latin American Art on Alamitos Avenue is the only one in the Western states dedicated exclusively to the contemporary art of Latin America. He’s an honorary member of the newly-built art quarter of the East Village. The University Art Museum has gained national fame for its innovative programs. The newest museum in the city is the Pacific Islands Folk Art Museum, which opened in 2010.
The historic Los Serritos ranch is on Virginia Road. It is a two-storey mansion in the Monterey style, built in 1844. The Ranch was included in the list of national sights along with the old garden and scientific library. Every hour from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., organized tours with an associate professor take place in the building, and this is free of charge (although donations are welcome).
Naples Island is a specific area in southeastern Long Beach SVG. It penetrates many canals with pedestrian embankments and millions of mansions on them. On Christmas Eve, the locals decorate their homes to compete with each other for extravagance, so the streets are packed with enthusiastic spectators who come here to gaze at this magnificence.
Previously, Long Beach was sometimes referred to as “Primorsky Iowa”, for a population of predominantly white Americans with appropriate food and culture.
Long Beach is famous for its street art. Its most famous object is the Ocean Planet mural, which covers the entire surface of the indoor urban sports stadium. The painting is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest street painting in the world. The 11,000-square-metre image was created by the famous street eco artist Richard Wyland as part of the Whale Walls series, in which the author portrays whales, dolphins and other sea creatures in life-size.
