Leopard SVG is an animal that belongs to the class of mammals, predatory detachment, cat family, subfamily of big cats, genus of panthers.
The Greek word πάνθηρ, which is the origin of the word “panther”, another name of the leopard, consists of two bases: πάν (everything, everywhere) and θήρα (animal, predator), that is literally “a complete predator”. Although there is an opinion that the word “panther” comes from Sanskrit pundarikam – “tiger”, “yellowish animal”. The prefix “Leo” from the Greek Λέων points to the kinship with a lion. In Russia, the leopard was known as the leopard, parade and pardus, although the latter two names also applied to another animal, the cheetah. The word leopard, also known as this mammal species, is of Turkic origin.
The Leopard SVG is one of the representatives of large cats. The body of the animal is elongated, flexible, slender and strong. The body length varies from 91 to 180-190 cm. The height in shoulders is 45-80 cm. The leopard weighs from 15 to 75 kg (depending on the subspecies and sex of the animal), extremely rarely reaching 100 kg or more. Males are 1.5-2 times larger than females.
The leopard’s head is rounded, relatively small, with a noticeably convex forehead, a sloping parietin and a moderately blunted face. Ears are short, triangular, rounded, without tassels. Leopard SVG eyes are small, pupils round. The animal is well developed in sight and hearing, but its sense of smell is weak. Fangs of predator are relatively thin at the base, but high and sharp. Tail is long – 75-110 cm and is at least 2/3 of the body.
Legs of the leopard are slender, relatively low and very strong. Soft pads are on the legs.
The claws of the leopard are hidden. He lets them out only when it’s time to grab a prey or climb a tree.
The leopard’s coat is rough and short – about 25-30 mm on the back and shorter on the tail. Fur of leopards living in tropical countries, brightly colored, but not fluffy. It is fluffy and more dense in winter in the Far East leopards. The body, legs, head and tail of the animal are covered with clearly demarcated spots. They can be solid or in the form of rings. The animal’s stomach and paws have larger spots on them and smaller ones on the head. They are assembled into sockets on the back. The largest leopard stains do not exceed 5 cm in length. In some cases, in the posterior region of the back or on the sides, they merge into stripes, and on the tail form transverse rings.
The spotted pattern stands out on the yellowish or reddish colour of the leopard’s wool, the shades of which depend on the mammal’s habitat: from yellow-brown to light yellow.
Young individuals are slightly lighter than the old ones. Their general tone is grayish-yellow or dirty-white. Summer Leopard SVG fur is rarer, shorter and lighter than winter fur. By the way, leopards have different lengths of yellowish and black hair. The black hairs that make up the spots are longer and thinner than the yellow ones. The degree of staining and the shape of the stains may vary. Black may have a brownish hue.
Due to their colouring, leopards disguise themselves well by pressing down on the ground or hiding in tree branches. They are difficult to see in grass no more than 50 cm high, even when a few tens of meters away.
