Chicken SVG, or house chicken (lat. Gallus gallus; also Gallus gallus domesticus, sometimes – Gallus domesticus; male – roosters, chickens – chickens) is the largest and most common poultry, which is a domesticated form of jungle hen. Flies badly, not far away. During the long history of human domestication, a large number of different breeds of chickens have been bred. Chickens are among the most useful and outstanding in their productivity poultry. They breed them for the sake of meat and eggs, in addition, they give them feather and down.

Chicken SVG Origin and history of domestication

Chicken SVG Wild ancestors

It is believed that domestic chickens originate from wild banking hens (Gallus gallus) inhabiting Asia. In addition to the bankers’ chicken, or red jungle Chicken SVG, there are three other species in the genus of comb chickens (Gallus): grey jungle chicken (G. sonneratii), Ceylon jungle chicken (G. lafayettei) and green jungle chicken (G. varius). Wild members of the genus inhabit India, Indochina, South China, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Chicken SVG Time and centers of domestication

Earlier evidence, relied upon in his writings and Charles Darwin, pointed to the domestication of chicken in the region of India about 2000 years BC. Later researchers argued that this could have happened about 3200 years BC and even earlier in another region of Asia. There is now a wealth of evidence of a more ancient history of domestication of chickens – 6000-8000 BC – in Southeast Asia and China. Studies of mitochondrial DNA have shown that the ancestors of modern chickens were domesticated about 3500 BC in the Asian region. In addition, the analysis of mitochondrial DNA showed the presence of three related haplogroups among domesticated birds:

haplogroup E (the vast majority of domestic chickens distributed in the world), haplogroup D (common in the Pacific) and haplogroup B (in Southeast Asia).

Prevalence of chickens in antiquity

In ancient Egypt, images of chickens appeared not earlier than the middle of the second millennium BC. e., in particular, in the tomb of Tutankhamen (dated about 1350 BC. e.) In 900-800 BC the first chickens appeared in Ethiopia.

Remains of chickens from Buto in Egypt are dated 685-525 BC. e. A little earlier chickens have appeared in the Near East. In Greece they have got with the beginning of an antique epoch, and from there have extended on all Europe.

In Athens Diogenes Sinopsky plucked a chicken in response to Plato’s statement that the man is a two-legged man without feathers.

The Gospels mention the breeding of chickens in Judea at the time of Pontius Pilate (Jesus Christ told Peter that he would deny three times before the cock sings – Matthew 26:34). “The illustrated full popular Biblical Encyclopedia (1891) gave the following information:

The Chicken SVG, the rooster, is a poultry, well-known bird. During the earthly life of the Lord Jesus Christ chickens were quite a common poultry in Judea, which is partially visible from the Gospel.

Hence the egg in the New Testament is also found as a common foodstuff (Luke 11:12). All the evangelists testify to the rooster’s rooster’s singing during the Apostle Peter’s abdication from the Lord (Matthew 26:34, 75, Mark 14:30, 68, 72, Luke 22:34, John 13:38). Determining the night time by the cock singing was a common knowledge (Mark 13:35).

The distinguishing features of the chicken-hen as a gentle and trustworthy mother to her chicks are pointed out by the Savior himself in the following touching words addressed to Jerusalem: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem … how many times I wanted to gather your children, as a bird (cocoon) gathers its chicks under its wings, and you did not want to” (Matthew 23-37).
